Seminary Assists in Hands-on Approach to Orthodox Evangelism - 08/04/11
On Thursday, August 4, a member of St. Tikhon's Seminary community, Christopher Patton, traveled to Agia Sophia Harrisburg to assist in the training of the coffee shop's new baristas. Chris has given similar trainings when employed by Starbucks several years ago and was invited by Fr. Steven Vernak for the evening.Fr. Steven and other Orthodox Christians from the Harrisburg area have organized the new outreach effort hoping to enjoy similar success as the original Agia Sophia in Colorado Springs, CO.
Agia Sophia is a coffee house and book store that employs local people, is run partially by volunteers from the Orthodox parishes in the area, and donates all profits to local charities.
