St. Tikhon’s Seminary Opens Search for Director of Extended Learning & Vocational Initiatives

Many are following developments of the ongoing Sowing for Plentiful Harvests program, generously funded by the Lilly Endowment, Inc., to expand our academic programming into distance learning formats and prepare foundational resources for its candidates.

Since late 2025, we have partnered with the Diocese of the Midwest to launch the first of three extended learning sites in fulfillment of the program’s frontline aspirations. With the initial groundwork laid and approaching its first academic term in Fall 2026, the Sowing for Plentiful Harvests program is ready to unfold into the next stages under the guidance of dedicated leadership.

The Director of Extended Learning & Vocational Initiatives is a novel role, combining the ability to offer broad pastoral guidance for vocational discernment and preparation with the organizational skills of higher-level project administration. Candidates should anticipate responsibility for a major, multi-year, multi-site project. Funding is ensured for a five-year performance period, with continued operations thereafter contingent on a sustainable execution of the program. A full role description is attached herein.

This role is ideal for ascendant professionals in fields of higher education, nonprofit leadership, and project management, but calls for a strong rootedness in Orthodox Church life and a familiarity with ecclesial dynamics. The role is open to both clergy and laity, though clergy with professional qualifications are preferred.
