He has published six books: Marriage as a Path to Holiness: Lives of Married Saints (co-authored with his wife Dr. Mary Ford; first edition 1994, second expanded and revised edition, 2013); Women and Men in the Early Church: The Vision of Saint John Chrysostom (first edition, 1996; second revised and expanded edition, 2017); Wisdom for Today from the Early Church (2014); Saint Tikhon of Moscow: Instructions and Teachings for the American Orthodox Faithful (1898 - 1907) (co-edited and translated with Alex Maximov; 2016); Church History, in the revised catechetical series entitled The Orthodox Faith (vol. 3 in this series, in which he revised and more than doubled the original text by Fr. Thomas Hopko; 2016); Saint John Chrysostom's Letters to Saint Olympia (introduction and original translation; number 56 in the SVS Popular Patristics Series; 2016); and the booklet. Prayer and the Departed Saints (Conciliar Press, 1991). 

 

His journal articles include "St. Macarios of Egypt and John Wesley: Variations on the Theme of Sanctification" in the Greek Orthodox Theological Review, "Help from Heaven" in AGAIN magazine, "The Interrelationship of Clergy and Laity within the Family of God according to Saint John Chrysostom" in St.Vladimir's Theological Quarterly, "2000 Years of Church History as Seen through the Lives of Some of the Most Significant Saints of Each Century" in the Tikhonaire, "Crisis in Marriage: The Wisdom of St. John Chrysostom" in Alive in Christ and reprinted in Sourozh, and several articles, mostly on the lives of the Saints, in Alive in Christ.

He also helped to edit, along with his wife Dr. Mary Ford and Dr. Alf Kentigern Siewers, Glory and Honor: Orthodox Christian Resources on Marriage (SVS Press, 2016).  He contributed three articles in this volume: "The Glory of Marriage," "Inspiration for Today from the Married Saints," and "Noteworthy Quotations Relating to Marriage from within the Orthodox Tradition through the Centuries."

 
Dr. David has also published encyclopedia articles on "St. John Chrysostom" in The Concise Encyclopedia of Preaching (John Knox/Westminster Publishing), "St. Innocent Veniaminov" and "St. Jacob Netsvetov" in The American National Biography, and "History of Orthodoxy" in The HarperCollins Encyclopedia of Religion in Canada. He also delivered the 2001 St. John Chrysostom Lecture at Holy Cross School of Theology, and the 2006 graduation address at Holy Trinity Seminary in Jordanville, N.Y.

 

His paper entitled "The Home as a Little Church: the Wisdom of St. John Chrysostom," is posted on the website of the St. John Chrysostom Orthodox Church in House Springs, Missouri (2007).  He and Dr. Mary published a paper posted on PublicOrthodoxy.com entitled "The Power of Sexual Purity" (2017).

 

And he also, along with Dr. Mary and Fr. Theodore Petrides, wrote and edited the 21 one-page thematic articles in the Old Testament portion of the complete Orthodox Study Bible, published in 2008.

 

He is currently at work on a major anthology called "Sing to Your Soul" - A Festival of Wisdom from the Writings of St. John Chrysostom.  He is also helping to edit a book on Metropolitan Leonty (1876 - 1965).
